Shanahan's Supports Almost Home Kids' Golf Event

Shanahan's supported Almost Home Kids' (AHK) Golf Event with 35 boxed lunches for the golfers at the AHK Golf Marathon event on September 19, 2023. The event had one of the largest group of golfers in many years and despite the on and off rainy weather, most of the golfers powered through the course and enjoyed themselves. They didn’t quite get in all 100 holes but they had fun and raised money for AHK. Starting them off with Miguel’s lunch boxes was a big hit! THank you!

On behalf of the Woodridge Rotary Club, Randy & Melody McCallister, and Shanahan’s, we THANK YOU WITH ALL OUR HEARTS! The HELPING HEARTS FOR UKRAINE fundraiser on Sunday, March 27, 2022 was truly a day to remember. Together we raised $11,000 and counting! These funds will be donated directly to Rotary International Crisis Fund for Ukraine to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Everyone came together with a spirit of love and generosity – 19 raffle basket donations, 5 silent auction donations, a full house of participation for the event, wonderful support from those who could not attend, and amazing music, organization and service. Thank you!

Small Family Business in the Spotlight

Beginning 23 Years in 2023 and Bringing Good Vibes to Woodridge!

Shanahan’s Food & Spirits is beginning their 23rd year as a small family business in the great community of Woodridge. Established in 1999, the business began with a focus on service. During a recent luncheon meeting with Proprietor Rich Moore and his daughter Amanda Pappas (President), I couldn’t help but to ask: What makes Shanahan’s so special? Rich Moore replied, “Good Old-Fashioned Family Values. We look at our establishment as if it were our home. It’s about creating a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable experience – like you’re sitting at someone’s dining room table or in someone’s living room.” “We take pride in serving delicious, homemade recipes. We hand make our half-pound Angus burgers, fresh to order. Our soups and chili are homemade and we are one of the few places to serve broasted chicken (never fried). Not to mention, our fries are fresh-cut and not frozen and we batter our own onion rings, strings and Cod for our Irish Fish and Chips. Make sure to check out our Burger Mondays, where our half-pound Angus cheeseburgers are on special with fresh-cut fries for $7.95,” added Amanda.

When asked what else makes Shanahan’s so special, Rich said “I believe we have one of the best live music venues in the suburbs! We offer four nights of live music with some of the best musicians around.”

The Woodridge Rotary 2nd Annual Holiday Gala was a huge success!

People from this great community of Woodridge came together to show their support for VFW Post 1578 and Project Cure located in Woodridge. The Rotary theme for 2023 -2024 was to create hope in our community and the world. Proceeds from this Gala will go a long way in providing a living legacy for VFW Post 1578 and creating hope in our community. The stage was set for success at Bobak’s Signature Room. The award-winning banquet facility was perfect for this type of fundraising event. Food sponsors included Bobak’s Signature Room, Shanahan’s Food & Spirits, Ike and Oak Brewing, [among others].

Speakers included Shanahan's Owner and President of the Woodridge Rotary Club, Rich Moore, who quoted Ronald Reagan. “Veterans know better than anyone else, the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war”. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have done for us. Rich went on to say that local VFW’s play an important role in helping our veterans who come home from war to have a local place to talk about their experiences. We must do everything we can to support our local VFW Post 1578 to ensure that it will not become extinct.... Continued reading on patch.com
